The main inspiration for this SXS01 series of objects was the “vernacular” DIY furniture, which is produced by Russian construction workers out of the materials available to them on building sites. They will use the scrap and detritus of these sites to construct benches or tables, for their own everyday use.

Alexandra Gineva and Alexander Dobrovsky carefully archived and photographed these objects on the building sites they have been supervising as architects. Their peculiar yet complex shape is emphasised by the use of a solid black colour.
