fābula gallery is delighted to present a new project, Water flows down the pipe, in which the works of the Voronezh artist Kirill Savelyev will enter into dialogue with the works of the artist from Marche – Iacopo Pinelli.

Iacopo Pinelli’s sculptures and installations explore the theme of functionality: objects used in the construction of houses, as well as in their interiors, are made of soft yet elastic materials — rubber and polyurethane foam. The hammer and nails are bent lifelessly, the legs of the chair spread out to the sides. The prevailing mood in this series by Pinelli: melancholy and boredom, inspired by everyday life, fatigue, caused by false expectations and rehearsed scenarios.

The photographs and poetry of Kirill Savelev resonate with the works of his colleague from Italy. Focusing on physicality, Kirill erases his identity in his self-portraits; artificial and awkward poses transform the body from a recognizable image into an abstract form. Routineness, weariness with oneself is evident in Savelyev’s lyrics: neighbors, tired of the noise of someone else’s water in the pipes, find the strength to be indignant, but this indignation is senseless and comical, like most of the human ambitions that focus on matter.
