Ilya Zharkov is a multidisciplinary artist from Crimea. After working for several years in his tattoo studio, he turned to paintings and graphic illustrations. Lives and works in Moscow.
The main theme of Ilya’s artworks is material culture and its interaction with the human body. In his paintings, he refers to the heroes of mass culture — characters of cartoons and games, celebrities. Traditional realistic images are converted into naive, hypertrophied forms. Ilya defines his artistic style as a synthesis of pop culture and subjective worldview.
