Vadim Sidur Museum and the Moscow Museum of Contemporary Art, with the support of the fābula gallery, present the solo project “Aleksandr Lemish 4REAL*,” in which the artist explores the images and myths of the media space, as well as their influence on the mental state of contemporary individuals.
Lemish’s exhibition consists of objects that transmit a mode of existence in the modern world, where people perceive their surrounding reality as a sequence of disconnected phenomena and images. Society, losing its bearings amid layers of interpretations and speculations, repeatedly finds itself in increasingly unstable, bordering states.
Drawing on the findings of fashion designer Raf Simons and the renowned trendsetter Kanye West, Aleksandr Lemish invites viewers to contemplate the collapse of the old and the birth of a new world. For this purpose, he incorporates objects inspired by Vadim Sidur’s work, revealing unexpected contemporary dimensions through the addition of clothing items. Lemish sees Sidur as a harbinger of the modern world: the poetry and works of the Soviet sculptor seem destined for our 21st century.
