fābula gallery presents Sergei Mel’s personal project BEFORE THE FORM, which features paintings and sculptures by the artist. In the works of Chalk, the forms, as if frozen at the moment of movement, form their own dimension.

Intense compositions in Mel’s works, conceptually consonant with the ideas of hyperobjects and cosmo-pessimistic philosophy — the unknowable space “without us”.

Developing a dialogue with the expressive tradition of Francis Bacon’s painting, the artist creates works that capture the instability and dynamics of forms.
