fābula gallery is pleased to present Natasha Perova’s solo project, “AT LEAST ANGELS WATCH OVER ME,” in which the artist explores issues of female vulnerability and resilience as seen through the writings of Donna Haraway. In this project, the artist reimagines the concept of the cyborg as a tool of liberation, challenging traditional notions of female identity.

In 1988, Donna Haraway wrote a politicized cyber-fem-punk utopia in which the figure of the cyborg becomes a symbol of the rejection of rigid gender binaries and myths of salvation. The cyborg, a hybrid of human and machine, challenges the idea of ​​a single, true “feminine destiny.” The fusion of the biological, the mechanical, and the cybernetic becomes an embodiment of fantasy, capable of changing our understanding of the female experience.

Natasha Perova draws on Haraway’s ideas, interpreting the cyborg with playfulness and sincerity, making it a figure both utopian and ironic.

The artist also explores the strategies of digital subcultures, where anonymity and virtual identities allow one to transcend the “natural,” creating new forms of identity. Natasha’s heroines—ironic, radical, and devoid of romanticism—exist at the intersection of the biological and technological, challenging traditional narratives.
